A Holiday spent in Sitka, Alaska

First, I know this is a little late for this, but I'd like to wish everyone a happy belated Holidays and a blessed New Year! I hope everyone found something special under their Christmas tree this year whether it be something small or nothing at all, having family for the holidays is what makes the holidays the most special of all.

This year we were very gifted by my husband's parents for Christmas and New Year's. Justin's parents caught a good deal online through Alaska Airlines and were able to pull off getting our entire family a stealer deal on airline tickets. Including Chloe's ticket, it was free she's still under 2! hehe...

So off to Sitka, Alaska we went! Chloe wasn't happy that she had to be confined to papa's lap on the way there. Snacks kept her busy for a little while, but as soon as the plane stewardess announced that all lap trays had to be folded and locked up, Chloe became very disgruntled and threw her crackers up in the air and everywhere! We made it into Sitka though and it was COLD! Cold as in we for the last 6 years traveling from the East Coast to the West Coast in the Marine Corps have not befriended any climates quite alike as in Sitka anywhere else we've been stationed.

Our trip was spent with lots of family and church family. Justin was raised most of his life in Sitka, Alaska by his mother and stepfather so he had a good history of what this little city on an island entailed. We went on a little boat trip and saw sea otters, bald eagles, killer whale, and beautiful snow covered mountains, and just breathtaking scenary. My mother in law and I and the children went on a few little shopping ventures. We took icy hikes, and went to the range and showed the boys how to shoot a real gun! We attended a gym night with the church and enjoyed a craze driven game of Ultimate Frisbee! There is more, but I just don't have time to write about it all!

This Christmas and New Year's was pretty awesome! The children made out very well with gifts from Grandma and Grandpa. Let's just say I don't think Santa could top all the goodies that were under the tree this year for the grandchildren. I do know this though, Christmas and New Year's this year will be one that our children and my husband and I will never forget!
